Volvo patent for bunks

Volvo Trucks has patented a new construction for the bunks in a truck cab. This patent request is public, so we can get a view of what is probably comming. The drawing shows a European cabover cab, with a bigger size than the existing FH model. Behind the seats there is space before the bunk, and that means the cab is made longer. Interesting is the construction of the bunks. They are mounted on rails on the rearwall of the cab, and they fold upwards, so the matrass is facing the cab. That should give more safety in the cab, but it seems rather unpractical to us.

Together with the new, streamlined cab that complies to the new European regulations we espect to see the Volvo news next year. Earlyer we posted a camouflaged prototype at a ferry.
