After our speculations about the announced Mercedes-Benz pickup truck we received a press release confirming our thoughts. Yes, the new Mercedes-Benz pickup truck is going to be a joint cooperation with Nissan on the base of the NP-300. And yes, that is what we know as the Nissan Navara.
It is not the first time that Mercedes acts like this when entering a new market segment. We saw the same with the Renault Kangoo-Mercedes Citan. Here also, Mercedes made little adjustments on driveline and exterior and it created a new interior. This formula proved successful with the Citan. The only thing we don’t know yet is the name of the German-Japanese pick-up, but we think our idea for a Citara would not be so bad.
