In the USA the first Nikola Tre Fuel Cell Trucks are spotted on the road. These are basicly Iveco S-Way trucks with electric engines. Until now we’ve only seen the BEV version of these trucks with battery power, but these trucks are equiped with Bosch Fuel Cell modules to provide electrity from hydrogen.
Since fuel cells are not able to provide peak power there is also a battery on board for extra power, for an example to climb a hill. These battery’s are fed by regenerating brake energy but they can also be charged as a plug in, like we see on the picture.
