Scania Gas engine: 410 Hp

Today Scania is launching a new 13 litres Gas engine in Rimini at the Ecomondo exhibition. The new gas engine is an oto-engine, so it works with sparkplugs. The new Scania engine can be ordered with LNG or CNG tanks. On LNG the truck can travel up to 1100 km far with a max GVW of 40 tonnes. The CNG version travels half that distance before it has to refuel.

The engine has 2000 Nm of torque between 1100 and 1400 revs. The max 410 Hp (302 kW) is there at 1900 revolutions. The engine is the 12,7 litres sixpot with a 130×160 bore and stroke. The transmission is the automated Opticruise 12+2. The new gas trucks come in the second quarter of 2018 but demotrucks will be available soon.

With this new Scania gas truck operators can make a serious choise for a LNG or CNG truck in Europe. Compatitors like Iveco and Volvo also come with powerfull gas trucks on the market. Countries like France, Italy and The Netherlands have a growing infrastructure for LNG and CNG. Therefore these trucks are more and more a serious alternative for who wants to save CO2.
