At the New Delhi Truck Show, Ashok Leyland unveiled this stunning looking new Europe-like truck, featuring a completely new engine, called Neptune. The Neptune engine generation looks like India’s first common rail diesel engine. It should muster around 380 hp in it’s strongest version. Other details are unknown still. Some sources say this is the new Sankagiri Express 3120, but we think that the truck with that name is a traditional Indian four axle chassis waiting for a traditional wooden cab.
Analysts see resemblances of the truck pictured here with the latest Iveco Stralis, but it is obvious that only the headlights resemble the big Italian. Ashok Leyland seems to be developing all new technology by itself. This cab for instance, appears to be a bigger version of the Captain vocational truck. This too, is a development mase by Ashok Leyland itself.
