Mercedes-Benz is aiming for hydrogen for the future of long distance transport. Today the German truck brand presented a hydrogen Actros with a range of 1000 kilometer on one tank of Hydrogen. The Mercedes-Benz GenH2 Truck is a step towards serial production. Mercedes hopes to start testing on public roads before the end of the year. The first field tests with costumers will take place in 2023.
The hydrogen truck is said to have the same quality as the diesel trucks, and that means a lifetime of at least 1,2 milion kilometer and 25.000 working hours. The truck has an electric driveline and a fuel cell system. The prototype is tested with 25 ton of payload at a gross vehicle weight of 40 ton.
