Magnetic road in South Korea

Magnetic roadIn South Korea the worlds first ‘electric’ or ‘magnetic’ road is being finished. The road of 24 km length has electrical cables under the surface that send electric energy wireless to passing vehicles. By doing this the electrical busses that drive on this route don’t need to carry heavy traction battery’s. The Korean Advanced Institute of Science and Technology developed the resonating magnetic field that charges the vehicles. The electrical power is Electric bus Korea100 Kw on a frequency of 20 KHz, and that creates the electromagnetic field.

The Koreans claim an efficiency improvement of 85% for electric vehicles by using this system. With this project the Koreans proof that electrical power for heavy vehicles can be the way to go in the future.
