China’s FAW, which stands for First Auto Works, has unveiled the first China built truck which drives autonomous. FAW stresses that the truck has been developed completely by the company itself. FAW built a Jiefang J7 tractor and a J6 dumper, which are loaded with lots of electronics to be able to do without a driver. All this equipment is known as ‘Zhitu’ technology among Chinese engineers.
FAW expects the trucks equipped with this technology to be production ready and hit the road by 2025. FAW signed a strategic cooperation during the first unveiling of this technology with Ericsson, Bosch, Continental, ZF, China Mobile and Optimum Nano.
