Volvo – Scania Euro VI 16-litre fight !

Volvo-FH16-newVolvo and Scania are going to fight it out with their upcoming powerful sixteen litre Euro VI engines. Earlier this year, Scania unveiled its new V8 Euro 6 engine range. However, they left out one very important engine in their presentation: the most powerful one, the 730 hp plus variant.

It appears now why Scania keeps this engine as a secret until the second half of this year. Volvo is coming up with a Euro 6 sixteen liter engine range as well. Of course, this is nothing new, but Volvo also keeps their most powerful variant as a secret till later this year.

Big news is that Volvo complies with Euro VI without the need of EGR. This makes the D16 engine lighter and less complicated.

Scania_lowres_13010-004At Iepieleaks, we expect Scania to come up with 770 hp or something nearly similar. With the press announcement made today by Volvo, it seems that Volvo keeps its cards closed, awaiting the next move of Scania. Will Volvo be the first to crack the 800 hp barrier?
