At Volvo the exhaust unit for Euro-6 can be split. This way the catalyst is placed between axles 1 and 2, while the particle filter is standing behind the cab. This clears the way for an extra axle like on this Volvo FMX 10×4. The extra axle is an original Volvo axle that was built on by Terberg in The Netherlands. On this configuration the GVW in The Netherlands is 49 ton.
The tipper is a Hyva and they made a special tipperbody for this Euro-6 Volvo by creating space in the bulkhead for the exhaust with particle filter. The body therefor is placed in the original position and that is important for the distribution of the weight to both front axles.
