Several American media reveal that Volvo immediately discontinues availability of it’s D16 engine for both Volvo and Mack trucks.
Volvo says demand for trucks with a large engine has decreased, most of it’s customers prefer the smaller 13 litre engine. Volvo also has en eleven litre engine available for long distance Volvo trucks. Customers can also specify a non-Volvo engine, which is the Cummins X15.
The engines mentioned can be had in combination with Volvo’s I-Shift automated transmission or with a manual box. When specifying the Cummins engine, customers can order it with an Eaton Ultrashift AMT.
