Volkswagen wants Scania completely

Scania_MANThe Volkswagen Group already has the most of the Scania shares, now the Germans also want the last bit.

The integration of Scania into the Volkswagen Group already has started and the main goal is to save money because of the bigger scale. Buying components and raw materials for both MAN, Volkswagen and Scania could save up to 200 milion Euro’s a year, and that is a lot of money. The expectation of the Volkswagen Group is that by the year 2020 these savings could count up to 650 milion Euro when the integration is completed.

A full integration means that the Volkswagen Group also needs a new chairman that is able to do this job. The expectation is that Andreas Renschler, former Daimler chief of the truck department is the new man in charge. Both the German and American financial press say that Renschler is going to take a new job next year. His job would be to create a complete new truck line between the Volkswagen Crafter models and the lightest MAN trucks. The expectation is that the 70 year old MAN CEO Leif Östling, former CEO of Scania is going to enjoy his retirement by then. (Source: www.truckjournalist.nl)
