Two Scania prototypes on the road!

Scania Proto 9Ok, these photo’s still don’t show anything of the new Scania, but Iepieleaks Spy Menno Havenga caught these two(!) combinations while he was on his way in Scandinavia. They must be the same, completely wrapped trucks that came back from The Netherlands for windtunnel testing.

Like I just wrote, these pics don’t show anything but they do proof that something is coming! Everybody is waiting for the Scania news and there are some speculations but I think the IAA is still to early. But we will see.. In the meanwhile keep paying attention while you are out there, you never know what you catch!

Update: I just got a reaction that the photo was indeed caught in Scandinavia by Menno, but on his smartphone. The picture was originaly taken by Per Brodde from Sweden and posted on the Facebook group Truckers Paradise. Sorry for that Per!

  1. I can’t imagine that they’ve tested two times the same cab. So I expect they’ve tested two different alternatives full scale, to see the differences. So I don’t think we see the results on the road shortterm.

  2. The deal with Porsche Engineering Group (PEG) was about 4 years ago. So it’s possible to see the new truck at IAA this year. Development cycles are very fast at Scania. The mainframe won’t really change … so no extensive homologation procedure will be required.

The first Streamline was sold for 1,5 years. So this would may also be avail for that short time.

Ask me, why they should carry trucks to a windtunnel testing facility in the Netherlands, when they opened up a much better windtunnel in Södertälje themselve?

Scania’s transportation company uses the new dashboard, so it wouldn’t take long time until release.

  3. I would never take the credit for the picture, I just sent it to Iep as a gesture for this site 🙂 And I never told it was who had taken the picture though it was shared to me through Facebook. But glad the event was taken care off 🙂

  4. Today in the Year-end Report, one of the analysts asked about a new vehicle in 2016. Martin Lundstedt just answered: We have a modular system and components are on continuous development. On some main components the development is on progress. But when there is something to talk about, Scania would come with more informations.

Since 2009 no completly new vehicle would be present by Scania. It seems the upcoming changes wouldn’t bring a totally new vehicle with a new shape.
