US truckmanufacturer Nikola intends to sell the Iveco S-Way based Nikola Tre in the US. At present, production of this electric is being prepared in the former Magirus-premises of Iveco in the German town of Ulm.
Nikola CEO Trevor Milton wrote on Twitter that he intends to bring the cabover engine truck ‘back’ to the US. The lastest effort of such a truck on the US market was the Freightliner Argosy, which was cancelled due to changing cab regulations in the US. Milton must be confident that the electric Nikola Tre won’t be affected bij these rules. Same goes for the steel cab, which is, from the US perspective, pretty heavy. Word has it that Iveco is on schedule preparing the first prototypes to go out testing on the road this summer.
