Volvo Trucks has launched a completely new Volvo VNL in North America. The truck comes with six different cabs, from day cab up to the biggest sleeper, the 860. The engine is the D13, that is available in four horsepower ratings, ranging from 405-500hp and three torque ratings from 1,750-1,950 lb-ft of torque. These different power options are designed to suit different applications and incorporate the improved and optimized I-Shift transmission.
24 Volt
The Volvo VNL is the first truck in America with a 24 Volt system on board. That makes sense, because more and more European systems are integrated in the USA trucks. For the trailer there is off course still a 12 Volt outlet to the trailer.
Details for the next FH?
We see interesting details that could also be introduced on the European launch of the new FH. First we see the camera’s that replace mirrors, but details from the dashboard could also make it to Europe. Another detail is the gear lever behind the steering wheel in the VNL. That could mean the end of the I-Shift box on the steering wheel in the FH. Off course this is speculation, we have to wait until the 29th of january at the launch of the new Volvo FH for Europe.
