Eicher Trucks is a brand of the Volvo group. Together with Mack, Renault Trucks, UD and Volvo trucks they are one big happy family that provides the whole world with trucks. Eicher is the most basic truckbrand and they are produced in India. Today I got pictures of the new model line of this brand, which mainly acts in the medium segment, not in the heavies. Eicher was a German constructor of agricultural tractors who decided to manufacture trucks as well. The brand formed a joint-venture with Volvo in 2008, which was keen to get a hold of the promising Indian market.
These are the new Eicher models with a clear Volvo flavour, that have the task to compete with Bharat Benz, the new Indian Mercedes-Benz brand. Bharat Benz has around two percent of the Indian market, which is being dominated by Tata and Ashok-Leyland. Both these brands posess over eighty percent of the Indian truckmarket, which is supposed to double between now and the year 2020. .
