New engines for DAF?

Paccar, the owner of DAF has requested new trade names at US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for the names ‘Paccar PX-10’, ‘Paccar PX-14’ and ‘Paccar PX-15’ with the subscribtion ‘Engine family for land vehicles’. This could be a signal that Paccar, read DAF, is working on a new engine range with 10, 14 and 15 liter stroke volume.

The current engine range is the ‘Paccar MX- 11’ and ‘Paccar MX- 13 engine’ and for Australia the rebagede Cummins PX- 15 engine. It is not clear if the new range is going to be completely new or if they are an upgrade on the existing engine platform.

DAF, since 1996 part of Paccar now has engines on the European and American market up to 530 Hp. The Australian PX- 15 provides 660 Hp. In Europe there is more demand for high power engines for the new, extra long and heavy combinations that are running in Sweden, Danmark, Finland and Spain. We wonder if DAF is going to join the competition with 600 Hp plus engines in Europe. Source: 40ton.net
