After a long period of uncertainty, Navistar seems to be back on track after having delivered the 10.000th ProStar featuring a Cummins ISX 15 engine with SCR. Navistar recovers from the mistake they made, relying entirely on EGR-technology to meet EPA 10 requirements.
Navistar tried to sell truck engines by telling customers that they were cleaner than they actually were. This lead to a huge fine issued by the US- environmental authority. In order to survive, Navistar adapted Cummins technology and it had to allow SCR-systems, which, needless to say, their competitors already promoted.
Navistar said that it has received orders from Knight, Penske, Ryder and Swift. In July, the company reported on-highway class 8 order share at its highest level in three years.
Navistar began making the move to SCR-based technology with the Cummins ISX15 engine in late December 2012. The majority of configuration options for SCR-powered International heavy-duty vehicle models are nearing completion throughout the month of August, Navistar noted.
