The US Department of Defense signed a contract for 466 tank transporters from Broshuis B.V. The family-owned company, located in Kampen, The Netherlands, will deliver the 466 Enhanced Heavy Equipment Transporter System (EHET) trailers over the next five years. The trailers are 8-axle PL2 pendulum axle semi low loaders for transporting tanks and other heavy equipment. The contract has a value of USD 263.2 million. Broshuis B.V. will execute the contract in collaboration with its US partner Oshkosh Defense.
Following on the previously delivered 170 Heavy Equipment Transporter (HET) trailers, the US army has once again chosen to order trailers from Broshuis B.V. The tender process for the EHET began back in 2018, even before the HET order was awarded. The US army was looking for a solution to transport tanks and other heavy equipment. During the testing of the Broshuis HET trailer prototypes, the load capacity was found to meet the higher requirements of the EHET programme. These test results, the high product quality and the services provided made the US army decide to choose Broshuis and Oshkosh again.
The order consists of the delivery of 8-axle PL2 pendulum axle semi low loaders. The technologies developed in-house and extensively tested by the military are of high quality. This also allows the company to provide all its civilian customers with the latest developments and highest quality requirements. The 466 tank transporters will be delivered over the next five years. They will be built in the special defence production line, apart from the civilian production lines. For this purpose, Broshuis B.V. has heavily invested in and expanded its production capacity in recent years.
