The Chinese Shacman X6000 held the record for the most powerfull dieseltruck with 800 Hp but now Great Wall presents the GWM G1050 tractor with 1.050 Hp!
Great Wall produced only passenger cars and vans up to 2023, but now they launched this top model. The styling has some inspiration of the ProCabin of Mercedes with the lower grille.
To be honest, comparing the 1.050 Hp truck with the Shacman or the Volvo FH16 780 is not fair. The engine is a 13 liter Cummins engine from the Chinese production but it is a hybrid truck. It also has two electric motors and an automated 8- gearbox. When the engines give their peak power of 1.050 Hp the driveline gives 4500 Nm of torque.
Great Wall did not make the choice for the hybrid version to boost power, but to improve fuel efficiency. The truck has relative small battery’s on board of 12,9 kWh. Technically it should be possible to drive full electric over short distances but the diesel engine stays on. Great Wall claims a 20- 25% improvement of fuel usage with the hybrid technology on board.
