Today the full electric Mercedes- Benz eActros was lauched for the international press. The truck has a new design that complies with the new European regulations for safety and aerodynamics. Therefor the truck has a front extension of 8 cm and a 4 meter long wheelbase. The cab is not longer than before.
The truck has 612 kWh of batteries on board that allow it to drive up to 500 km on one single charge. There are two electric engines and a four-speed gearbox, mounted on the rear axle. The engines provide 400 kW of power, with a peak of max 600 kW. That is 817 Hp!
The new design is very slick and modern and the truck is optimized in aerodynamics. A surprise is that Mercedes still uses the kerb- and front mirror in stead of camera’s. That would give an even better streamline and, maybe more important, an even more futuristic look to the eActros 600.
