Different frame for Scania electric

The Scania 40R and 45R electric trucks look like any other Scania from the outside, but the differences are more than only the driveline and the batteries. We found these illustrations of the chassis layout, and that is completely different on the front end.

Where the chassis frame of the diesel versions gets wider at the front, the frame of the electric truck is straight. That makes sense, because there is no space needed for a large engine underneath the cab and the straight layout makes it easyer to place battery packs.

Still we were surprised with this design, because Scania is all about modular building. This new chassis layout also made it necessary to design a new cab mounting, a new Front Underrun and even a different way to mount the front axle and suspension.
