The American supplier of semi-trailer rear-drag aerodynamics technology, announced the launch at Solutrans in Lyon, France, of several new distribution partners throughout Europe to bring its patented, fuel saving aerodynamic technologies to the European market.
TrailerTails are mounted to a semi-trailer’s rear doors and reduce aerodynamic drag at the flat rear surface of the trailer. This helps to save fuel. Their patented design allows the devices to completely collapse out of the way when the semi-trailer doors are opened to allow the unhindered loading and unloading of cargo.
Dutch haulage companies Emons Group, Dobbe Transport, Ewals CargoCare, and Transport Van Overveld are the first European fleets to utilize ATDynamics TrailerTail technology in Europe.
Emons Group has placed the TrailerTail Trident, a one meter boat tail device, on their shorter specialty trailers running trans-continental routes. The TrailerTail Trident has been proven in independent, third party, SAE Type II J1321 fuel economy testing to reduce fuel consumption by five percent.
In addition to the Eco50 and Trident devices, ATDynamics will offer the boat tail currently in operation in the United States. The longer, more efficient TrailerTail device is pending regulatory approval by the European Commission. The draft legislation, which would legalize their use on maximum length trailers on European roadways, is expected to come for a vote by mid-2014.
ATDynamics TrailerTail and EcoSkirt System technologies will be distributed in France, The Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and Turkey.
