For some reason both German brands always had a wide- and a narrow cab in their program. Wide cabs for optimal space and narrower cabs for regional- and city purposes. A strange habbit, because the narrow cabs are in the lower parts of the cab just as wide as the 250 cm wide cabs. So for maneuvering in narrow streets it didn’t realy help.
Other truckbrands always have wide cabs in a high- and low version, and that does make sense. A lower cab for distribution means a more ergonomic entry and more visibility around the cab.
Now Mercedes- Benz seems to break the tradition of the narrow cab. On the picture, made by a reader of France Route, we see a wide, low cab with a high roof. This fits right in the segment of the Scania P, the Volvo FM or the DAF XD cabs. The cab looks completely new and could be the first of a new Actros generation. Can we espect it in Hannover at the IAA? Lets wait and see!
