With the NGD generation DAF made huge steps for direct vision from the cab. New is the DAF XD with 5 stars for direct vision. This truck is approved for London to go in to the city with 44 ton. DAF achieved this with a slightly lower DVS dashboard that allows even more direct vision from the cab. This, in combination with the low window line of the DAF and the Side Kerb Window and a special ‘construction’ front bumper made the DAF XD get its 5 stars. The front bumper sticks out more than the standard bumper and that has a safety advantage for pedestrians when they are hit.
In 2029 the new EU regulation for direct vision starts. That makes that vehicles without improved direct vision no longer are approved in Europe. The new regulation is going to be mandatory for new introduced models from 2027 on. These new rules have huge consequences for all truck manufacturers because at this moment only DAF is ready. Since the lower window line of a cab is an important design point the others will probably have to design new cabs for the entire range. That is good news for Iepieleaks, because there will be a lot of new truck models in camouflage on the road in the coming periode.
