For the Dutch market Volvo Trucks is working with Terberg Techniek on an 8×8 version of the Volvo FMX Construction truck. The truck is equiped with hydraulic suspension on the three rear axles. The Volvo FMX 8×8 has the axles on a distance of more than 180 cm from each other and that makes them seperate axles with higher legal weight. Three of all four axles are steered. That means only the third axle is not steering. This configuration could go up to a legal 46 tonnes on the street in The Netherlands. This new Volvo goes as far as 44,5 tonnes legal. Reason for that is that the first axle is a ten ton axle, and not 11,5 tonnes.
One of our special reporters found the truck in the yard of a bodybuilder in The Netherlands. Soon more about this special tailor made Volvo FMX.
