Groenewold Carrosseriebouw B.V. in Hoogezand, Netherlands presents the EcoLog.
EcoLog is a modular system that transforms a tractor in to a rigid, and that gives great opportunities.
Today Dutch transport company Leverink from Rijssen started driving with this 25,25 meter long combination, based on a low deck Volvo 4×2 tractor unit. On the Volvo the EcoLog module is connected, and behind that there is a dolly with a Megatrailer. This way the ‘rigid’ can deliver goods in the hart of the city, and as a tractor it can bring the trailer to every costumer, even if the road is not allowed for long vehicles. The Dutch authorities give a combined tractor-rigid licence for the system.
Another company that uses the EcoLog system is LCW Groningen. They use a standard 4×2 tractor with an EcoLog module for tarmac spraying jobs. This vehicle can do this job in the roadwork season, while the tractor can do any other job through the rest of the year.
