On www.trucker.de there is a photo of a new Scania on test in Scandinavia. The truck we see is a new Scania and it seems that there are some changes made on the cab. There is a lot of camouflage going on and it could well be the existing cab, but in that case, why the camouflage?
The mirrors are wrapped like Volvo did on the field test trucks and also the cab seems to be more square. The R-series cab that we know seems to be a bit narrower at the front end. Also the shape of the roof does look like the completely wrapped truck that we spotted a few weeks ago.
There are strong rumours that Scania is launching something new this year, maybe on the IAA but I don’t think so. I think that is to soon after the introduction of the Streamline facelift. In the meeting at the end year report of Scania the question was asked about a new model. Martin Lundstedt, CEO of Scania answered: ,,We have a modular system and components are on continuous development. On some main components the development is on progress. But when there is something to talk about, Scania would come with more informations.”
I think he means that a completely new vehicle is not due to come in the near future. Maybe only on components and yes, a cab is a component..
There are rumors this new model has been seen at Scania testrack in Södertälje last summer in 2013.
IAA 2014 is a good place and time to unveil a new model and launch it early 2015
