The French national mailservice ‘La Poste’ and Renault Trucks are testing the Renault Maxity truck with a fuel cell added to the electric driveline. Hence, the heavy batteries can stay away and the Maxity can theoretically drive about 200 km on one tank of hydrogen.
The fuel cell considerably increases the range of the Maxity, which in this case weighs 4,5 tonnes. A testprogramme which lasts a year has been started. The Maxity will do it’s trips in the Jura mountains, in the east of France.
