Cummins is developing a hydrogen internal combustion version of the X15 engine. The 15 liter six- cilinder engine has the same base as the diesel engine, with a hydrogen injection system. Cummins is using the Holset turbo with variable geometry. The engine is tested in a Peterbilt truck in the USA.
Further details are not yet pubished but it is an interesting, and potential cheaper way to use hydrogen then with a fuelcell. MAN is the first brand that is coming to the market with a hydrogen ICE engine in the MAN hTGX. A truck with a 15,2 liter engine that provides 520 Hp. We already drove it and that was promising!
