Ginaf has built complete new rallytrucks for the next Dakar rally. The trucks are lighter, lower and they have 4 wheel steering!
Ginaf already had independent suspension on all four wheels and the rear axle is also steering. GInaf uses a VSE system for the steering rear axle. The benefit is that the truck is better in narrow turns, and it does not drift as quickly as with a normal rear axle. That provides more traction. Another advantage is that Ginaf will drive the sand dunes with a steered axle. This way the truck makes four tracks, so the wheels of the rear axle make their own track. The new Ginaf trucks are powered by Cummins.
