Paccar prepares autonomous technology, fuel cell

Paccar will be showing two novelties at the CES in Las Vegas. It will show autonomous truck technology on a Peterbilt 579 and  a fuel cell driven Kenworth T680.

The projects were initiated following the US governments Super Truck project. From this project, Paccar received a 2,1 million dollar support to develop these new technologies. Other brands received a similar amount. Earlier this year, Paccar opened a new R&D Center in California to study future truck concepts.

The autonomous Peterbilt still has the 13 litre engine developed by DAF under the hood. More details about the fuel cell are not yet available. At Iepieleaks, we are convinced that we will see autonomous DAF trucks, as well as DAF trucks equipped with a fuel cell, sooner than later.
