MAN working on non-EGR diesel engine

And again we got some nice photo’s of MAN test trucks in the Northern parts of Europe, this time caught by the Russian Iepieleaks friend  Евгений Семёнов. The photo’s do not show much news but there is a strong rumour going on that MAN is testing non-EGR engines in the cold.

After Iveco and Volkswagen Truck and Bus Group sister Scania that would make MAN the third truckbrand to come with a non EGR solution for Euro-6. Non EGR trucks do need a litle more AdBlue but since the exhaust gasses don’t flow back to the combustion chambers there is less pollution of the internal engine and engine oil. That means a non EGR engine has a longer maintanance intervall.

Eight years ago MAN tried to comply with Euro-5 without SCR. The EGR Only trucks were tested in the UK but it ended up not being a big succes for MAN. Funny enough eight years later the same brand is said to be testing exactly the opposite with SCR only for Euro-6.
