The 2015 Dakar was again dominated by the Russian Kamaz team. Funny is that these trucks are ‘Liebherr powered’ and that is also what is written on the side of the truck. For the regulations that is not possible, because the components on a rallytruck must be from production trucks. Now Liebherr does not produce trucks, but MAN does, and that is the same engine.
Problem is that MAN is the biggest competitor of Daimler brand Mercedes-Benz, and that company owns almost half of Kamaz.
So we wonder, was this the last year that the Kamaz boys were driving the big MAN V8 engine?
